The first people in the Czech Republic. Part One

At the beginning of the second half of the XIX century. it was already definitely established that man existed simultaneously with the extinct animals of the Quaternary epoch (during the ice Age, Pleistocene). Czech scientists began to make archaeological surveys in the sediments of the Quaternary era and really found traces of human habitation on Czech lands. In 1871, the so—called "Mostetsky skull" was found, in 1883 - no less famous "under the Babsky skull". Parts of skulls, mainly jaws, were also found both in the Czech Republic and in Moravia. In 1893, a most valuable discovery was made in the Moravia Suburb —a grave containing the remains of 20 people was excavated. Thus, it was finally proved that man lived on Czech lands already in the Pleistocene.

However, these findings could not answer the question of what we are most interested in: who was this man and how he got here. The finding of Mostetsky's skull was completely isolated. Far around, nothing else was found that would indicate the existence of a person in these places already at that time. The Podbabian skull has not been determined stratigraphically either. There is even doubt about its authenticity. To solve this issue, there were finds that were accompanied by other, simultaneously discovered archaeological sites. They were already of greater importance, although the results of research in this case were still questionable. As the well-known anthropologist Alyosha Grdlicka points out, anthropology is generally unable to solve the problem of chronologization and race by individual parts of the human skeleton. As for archaeology, it, with its bourgeois character and the principled positions determined by this character, could not solve this issue either. She viewed it from a purely biological point of view, not knowing or, in any case, disregarding the great principle of the Marxist doctrine of the origin of man, according to which labor created man himself.

The present work will therefore radically differ from the works that have been available so far in the nature of the material, its systematization, just as the Marxist science of human society in general differs from bourgeois science.
It is necessary, first of all, to point out that the person was not an autochthon in the Czech lands, he did not appear here. This seems indisputable already because there were no great apes on the Czech lands. It would be completely wrong to say, following Montandon, that man appeared autochthonously on the entire earth's surface. Such a statement is incorrect not only in fact (in America there are no traces of man in the most ancient period of the Pleistocene), but also theoretically, since it assumes the appearance of man as if "out of nothing", that is, repeats the fairy tale about the "creation of the world". As for the Czech Republic, there is still a special argument against the autochthonous nature of man on its territory. This argument is the striking isolation of human traces, observed to a lesser extent in Moravia and to a much greater extent in the Czech Republic. Meanwhile, there is no doubt that nowhere and never has man developed separately, as a loner, from one monkey. The herd of primitive people has always had its origin from the herd of great apes, but man has become what he is now only as a result of collective, organized labor. There are no traces of such a herd in the Czech Republic. It is quite obvious that at first only small groups of people or even individuals with several of their closest relatives penetrated here.
